Why Do The Routines Of Different Choreographers In The Same Style Look So Different?
The reason the routines look so different of different choreographers is because no 2 people are the same!
Different people have different ideas, different inspirations, different educations - and choreographers are no different!
It's the same reason if someone asked you and your best friend to write a random word on a sheet of paper, that the chances you would write the same word are very slim.
When you are given the freedom to express like this anything can come out.
There are some limitations, so if they work in the same style of dance they will follow the necessities of that style. There are some things they have in common.
But the freedom to express is so great and allows for so many possibilities that it makes different choreographers come up with vastly different choreographies.
The limitations and necessities placed on them are small by comparison. It's not like you're saying to them the routine must have this move and that move, and be in this order. All that they must attend to is to stay within the dance style.
And as we've seen there is even freedom in this. Occasionally they may borrow movements from other dance styles also or work in a mixed genre like jazz-funk.
The fact that different choreographers have different ideas makes it good for audiences and viewers as then they have a wider variety of talent they can choose to follow.
Diversity in dance is a good thing, diversity in general is a good thing!
