Common problems and topics covered when it comes to learning a dance routine, new steps and performing.
When you're a beginner it's important that you have a good grasp of the basic moves to give you a good foundation to begin with. At intermediate level it is assumed that you know these and you'll have to begin combining them into more complex combinations.
The main thing here is that all the moves will be mixed up so you'll need to know how to do them in advance...or else pick them up very fast!
Whereas before you could do moves and kind of relax with them, now you need to be prepared for what will be combined with them.
You may not often repeat the same move many, many times, but vary it and do it different moves within the combination.
In fact you can even chop up moves and you use one part of a move...and then decide to combine it with another move...and then finish the original move. There are so many possibilities.
So it becomes important to not become too attached to one move, you need to be able to think on your feet a lot more.
The combinations will be more complex, and co-ordination will go one step further than beginner level. At this level expect not to co-ordinate 2 parts of the body, but various limbs and body parts. Perhaps the chest, feet, arms, head and fingers all at the same time!
Often these co-ordinated moves will be just a move you already know, with a few things added in to make it more interesting.
Other times at intermediate level, you may learn a new step completely and be expected to put it into a routine straight away.
